Wildlife, Plants and Forests -
Among our criteria for management is always, "Is it good for the wildlife?" and "Is it good for the land?"
Because we view land ownership and management as stewardship, we care for all of it...from the health of the soil to the proper balance and abundance of wild plants and creatures.
We protect the native fox squirrel, breeding populations of quail, wild turkey and deer, the occasional black bear and panther. Foxes and bobcats, possums and coons all find a home here.
We provide nesting boxes for Wood Duck, American Kestrel and bats. The latter species are part of our insect pest control plan.
Winter bird life is exceptional. Great Horned Owls, though uncommon, make a home herer. Gopher tortoises abound on the land. We have the rare Indigo snake, a very large, tame and non-poisonous animal which is very hard to sight! Bald eagles, young and old, and a variety of raptors reside or visit here.
We can arrange for group visits for birding, exploring or just enjoying some time in the pines. Qualified individuals may be admitted for their special photography projects, or just to loaf and enjoy.
